Insides and Outsides, Documentary Film

"Insides and Outsides starts its journey from the end of 2019, when an uprising against an oppressive governmental regime’s anti-muslim/discriminatory legislation (CAA/NRC protests) was at its peak in India, and Arbabs sense of identity as a Muslim, and his responsibility towards the community are jolted awake. The film briefly begins in Ahmedabad as it covers the protests taking place there, coming to a halt with the pandemic. As Arbab tries to find footing with this sudden shift, the film makes an interior turn as Arbab returns to his home city New Delhi and his own parents. He probes into their respective identities, and how they disagree with each other about how to cope with an increasing discrimination towards their community in the country. In the midst of an unceasing pandemic, he explores his own anxieties he feels at a personal level and what is felt by his parents at a collective religious one, finding links between the two and holding them up to the light."
